12:15 a.m. - Friday, Mar. 19, 2004 Life is a bit hectic...I really am too ill to be doing any work, but have to for group work. This leads to one stressed out Meggie! My other group members don't know about my illness, because I object to going around like a little ray of sunshine announcing to all and sundry I am depressed and suffer from anxiety. It's partly because people will judge me, and partly because to me this is a passing phase, and not some great fact that everyone should be informed of. The mice are happy! this evening's delicacies included a crust and a big juicy piece of lettuce. And, for once, they understood they are meant to eat it and not use it as some sort of building material (Maisy is very keen on roofing the nest, she usually uses anything she can get her paws on. I woke to find it tiled with apple skin on Tuesday). They are such friendly girls, I am very proud of them. They have become more elusive to catch though...even their pea-brains seem to have worked out where I can't reach. Once they're out, they're perfect ladies though. Mais washed her whiskers in my lap while I read on Mia's bed earlier. She was a little non-plussed that she wasn't allowed to explore Mia's duvet knigdom, as she is mine, but soon caught on. Seems some people dislike the idea of having to sweep mouse poo from their bed before they get in. Takes all sorts, I suppose. I spoke too soon about them being happy. A very squeaky scuffle has just broken out. I had a nice evening round at Mia's Italian friend's house. She has a very British sense of humour so we all get along fine. She was telling us with great horror about a trip to England some years ago where the lady she stayed with was very excited to cook pasta for a real Italian, and then presented her with a bowl of spaghetti hoops. This still makes me giggle! Giovanna had to descibe them to us before we twigged. Poor girl, being presented with that and a spoon by the enthusiastic English lady! I also learnt the Italian word for ant - formica! Well, I'd better head to bed, and hope the espresso wears off soon. Ciao bella!
